About
Hayley Milton is a Christchurch-based artist, who gained a Bachelor of Applied Arts (Visual) with distinction from NorthTec, Whangārei in 2017. Milton recently completed a Post-graduate diploma in Arts Curatorship from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch. Milton has exhibited work at MD Gallery (Whangārei), Geoff Wilson Gallery (Whangārei), The Shutter Room (Whangārei) and more.
Milton takes a heavily biographical approach to art creation, using her own emotions as a starting point to explore the nature of human consciousness. Through investigating universally understood themes of loneliness and loss, Milton has used her photography-based creative practice as a vehicle to explore the melancholic nature of photography and the representation of memory within visual culture. Milton deliberating pushes and blurs the boundary of traditional photographic aesthetics using digital-based tools.
