A world within itself. Being inside your own bubble, seeing the world go by but not connecting it. You have this sense of being removed from the ‘normal’ being estranged from a world you can’t connect with. These feelings can be expressed by many different things, but a great metaphor for this is the train. When travelling on a train, you’re neither here nor there. You travel along the tracks in a little world ‘carriage’ observing the world as you pass by but never connecting with it other than what is presented on the surface. While travelling you’re becoming estranged from ‘normal’ life.
Trains also represent the fading of a once golden-era fading away to something written in the history books and can’t access them like we once did. The local train station is blocked off by fences now as it starts to crumble only seeing a few faces daily rather than the many it once did. It is becoming estranged from our memories.
