Being removed from a world you can longer connect with, you become estranged from that world. You can see it; you can acknowledge it but you can’t connect with it. It almost becomes a situation where you’re peeking through the keyhole to a world you're locked out from. You almost become entrapped in your own world and unable to escape. You become a prisoner within this new world.
These are the feelings I was trying to emulate in the series of photographs, the deeper and darker side to being in your own little world, and how you can almost become a big brother character to the outside world. You end up becoming a surveillance system, observing what’s going on but never being able to connect on a deeper level. It starts to tie into the idea of surveillance, CCTV and the demise of privacy.
Trapped in your own world, obscured from ‘normal’ life acknowledging the comings and goings of those around you but never connecting to the world on a deeper level than the surface.
You're removed from the world only experiencing what you can through peering through the keyhole, eventually becoming a tourist in your own world, your own reality becomes estranged from you as the connection you have with decreases.
